Shannon May is a certified instructor in the Musikgarten curriculum which specializes in preschool through upper-elementary music. She additionally holds a license and certification through the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC). Shannon is currently a music director in several preschools, including Ocean State Montessori located in East Providence, RI.
She received her Montessori degree and Lead Teacher Certification from the New England Montessori Training Education Center (NEMTEC) in 2009, which is supported and accredited by the American Montessori Society and U.S. Department of Education.
Shannon is additionally an assistant to the Sensorial and Philosophy professors at NEMTEC, and directs the NEMTEC music program in the summer season.
Shannon is a resident of Grafton, MA where she resides with her 21-year old daughter who is entering her senior year at Sacred Heart University.
Shannon has had years of experience as a member of various choirs where she plays flute as well as sings.
She also has over 20 years of experience with directing and producing Children’s Programs at a non-profit Theatre Company.
As a teacher, Shannon is diligent in keeping up her first aid and CPR certifications through the American Red Cross.
She is enthusiastic and passionate about music and child development.
